WHAT'S ON OFFER

 

The Club organises events and supports shows and fairs. There are also touring runs for members to join in and visits, for example to car manufacturer’s factories and motoring museums. The monthly Club Nights are popular as is the colour magazine which covers a wide variety of matters of interest to the old car enthusiast There is also an e mail monthly Newsletter to give information on imminent events shows and matters affecting members. The four annual major events run by the Club are detailed below.

 Spring Run and Treasure Hunt


Normally arranged on the FBHVC “Drive It Day” in April. This is a popular run around the Wirral with a lunch time finish
. This is an informal day to enjoy a run in your classic with the option of a separate Treasure Hunt (not a part of the drive) for the Treasure Hunt Trophy. All classic car enthusiasts are welcome at the finish.

Wirral Classic Car Show

SUNDAY 13 MAY 2012 (entries on the day all welcome )

This is the main annual static event organised by the Club in May. It is held at White's Farm, Station Road, Thurstaston, which is off the A540, and is open to both members and non members and you can enter by turning up in the morning before 12 noon. Entries are divided into classes by age of manufacture and Club stands are also welcome, please ask the Meeting Secretary for details. Classes: Pre-War Before 1940; Historic (Post War) 1941 to December 1960; Historic (Sixties) 1961 to December 1972;

Classic 1973 to December 1990; Best Modern Classic 1990 onwards
 

The 2011 event was held on the 8th. May at Thurstaston and in spite of poor weather nearly 100 cars turned out. They were judged in four classes:- Pre-War (Up to 1940), Historic (1941 to 1972), Classic (1973 to 1990) and Modern Classic (Post 1990).

22 JULY (pre-entered only)

The Wirral Historic Vehicle Rally takes place towards the end of July each year and is a very popular Touring Assembly of pre-entered cars first manufactured prior to 31 December 1972 and to period specification. All entries must be made well ahead of the event and close 1 May and are described in 2,500 event programmes distributed free to the public from the 1st. July. Entrants receive a quality memento of the event.

The event comprises a morning run, lunch stop and a finish stop and thousands of people line the roads of Wirral to wave at the cars. Judging is on a "pride of ownership" basis" and entrants are encouraged to wear period attire appropriate to the age of their vehicle and to display information about their entry at the stops that will be of interest to the public. The event is supported by Wirral MBC and has other sponsors and advertisers. You can download an entry form below and the event is open to non members up to the set limits.

 

The 2011 event on the 24th. July passed off particularly well and there was a lot of press coverage.

Class V Fifties: 1959 Austin Healey Sprite owned by Blair Percival and Dawn Edwards from West Kirby 28 points.
Class VI Sixties: 1967 Lotus Elan owned by Howard Finney from Greasby 26 points.

9 SEPTEMBER ( pre-entered only)

In September the South Wirral Gordale Run is a touring assembly around South Wirral and Cheshire for cars manufactured prior to 31st. December 1980 to period specification and entered in advance of the event. Entries close 1 August. Spaces are limited, but some places are available to non members of WCCC and a, non member's, entry form can be downloaded below. There are complimentary beverages, quality mementoes and a prize of free classic car insurance, for which all accepted entries are eligible, subject to the terms and conditions set out in the pdf file below. Entrants are encouraged to dress in appropriate period attire.

A bi-monthly colour magazine with a range of articles and information about events, FBHVC reports on legal and practical current issues affecting enthusiasts, technical articles, details of touring runs and visits to places of interest, also fun and humour and much more. There is also a monthly E-mailed Newsletter sent to members with details of shows and events for the coming month.
